The servers housed in and maintained by the School of Pharmacy, CUHK was suspected of being attacked by a ransomware. Data stored in the servers involve some personal information (name, email and phone number) of people associated with our School.
Once the attack was discovered, our School has immediately contacted the Information Technology Services Centre and the University Secretariat of CUHK, and followed the guideline to disconnect the concerned servers from the network. The server vendor has also been contacted to provide necessary and follow-up protection. The University has reported the case to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong and the School of Pharmacy has informed the affected data subjects by a separate email.
